Frequently Asked Questions

Visit Preparation & Examinations

What happens during a dental exam?
As a preparation, make sure your horse is in his stall or the barn. He can eat prior to the visit, but not directly after. We always appreciate water available for our equipment.

Dr Mundy will discuss any concerns or problems related to oral health that you might have with your horse. Examples of this include not being able to chew properly, awkward, slow or exaggerated chewing, dropping food or "balling", when the horse spits out balls of hay, lack of appetite, signs of infection or swelling inside the mouth, reluctance to accept the bit, nasal discharge or weight loss.

Dr Mundy will do a comprehensive oral exam of the mouth, including the gums, mucosa, teeth and tongue, before suggesting treatment options needed.
